History of The Carlyle

The Carlyle was constructed in 1969 as a luxury apartment building. During the condominium conversion craze in the late 1970's, Carlyle was converted to a condominium building / association. Near the close of 1979, a sufficient number of suites had transferred from the developers to individual owners that the owners, under the leadership of its Board, came into control of Association affairs.

In 1992, the Association owners resolved to purchase the parking garage in order to provide an assigned space to each residence. Also in 1992, the corridors were re-carpeted and the wallpaper which exists today was installed. The lobby was also redecorated.

By the late nineties, The Carlyle had taken its place as the best dollar-for-dollar condominium investment and residence in the Cleveland area.

Also during this time, the owners voted in favor of constructing our revetment in order to protect our shoreline and provide a new and exciting amenity. Completed in 1996, our revetment produced substantial results in the marketplace and still adds value to the suites and excitement to the property.

As the nineties closed, the owners again voted to reinvest in the building in order to complete Project 2000. The scope of Project 2000 included re-carpeting of the corridors, remodeling of the small party room, large party room, game room, subbasement corridor; the restoration and enhancement of the indoor pool, replacement of the front sign, and the addition of the concolor pines and front yard plantings.

The Carlyle is currently undergoing a major overhaul aimed to attract new residents, enhance owner value and generally improve the already outstanding quality of life our owners currently enjoy. Learn more...
